Michael Wood
Area Sales Executive
I began my career with Dawsongroup | material handling in 1998 as a Workshop Engineer. After a brief return to a previous employer, I rejoined in 1999 as an Assistant Maintenance Controller. Since then, I’ve advanced through roles including Maintenance Controller, Fleet Controller, and Service Manager, leading to my current position as Area Sales Executive for the North-East to Lincolnshire. My engineering background provides me with a strong grasp of our products.
Steph Best
Assistant Accountant
I work in the accounts department and will be celebrating my 11th anniversary this year. I have gained an AAT Accounting Qualification through Dawsongroup’s qualification scheme. One of the best things about working here is the people, especially since we moved into our open-plan office, as this has brought all the separate departments together.
Brian Lewis
Paint Shop
With nearly 23 years of material handling equipment experience, the majority of my time is spent in the paint shop refurbishing our used trucks to make them look better than new. The spray booth that was installed in 2014 has enabled me to get a perfect finish every time. I take great personal pride in refurbishing our trucks, so much so that I keep a collection of photographs of my work.

I’ve worked for Dawson’s for 19 years, and the group is continually looking for ways to benefit staff such as Health Checks, Bupa, staff benefits (discounts and offers), cycle to work scheme, childcare vouchers and the day off on your birthday! I mix with all our departments as I like to see what is happening across the business. I’m proud of the quality of our fleet, and we’re always making sure we have the latest technology and high-quality trucks to benefit the customer.

I work on Reception at Dawsongroup | material handling, and I have been here for 5 years, I really enjoy working in an open-plan office. All my colleagues are friendly and supportive. I also enjoy speaking to customers on a regular basis and dealing with incoming enquiries professionally. I have visited the Head Office in my role as Site Champion. The company is always looking for new ways to benefit our employees, including extra holidays and discount cards, which always come in handy.

Service Controller
I have worked here for just over 5 years, and I am one of the service controllers. I take calls from customers who have problems/breakdowns and allocate an engineer to ensure they get their trucks working as soon as possible. Dawsongroup is very flexible, allowing me to work 3 days a week. They took me back when I left briefly to go to another job that didn’t work out. Our staff, Customers and Engineers are all very friendly and I enjoy speaking to them – we have a great rapport!

Service Fleet Controller
I started with Dawsongroup | material handling just over 2 years ago as a Service Controller. I have since recently moved into my new role as Service Fleet Controller. I am responsible for the communication between three key areas of the business. I ensure our fleet is prepared for hire and sale in a timely and efficient way. It means ensuring our service, parts control function, workshops and our hire desk co-ordinate effectively.

Stores Controller
I have over 13 years’ experience of working at Dawsongroup and am responsible for ordering parts and ensuring they arrive in a timely manner – there’s nothing worse than letting a customer down. Fortunately, we can source 95% of all parts within 24 hours, ensuring the majority of our customers are never without a vehicle for very long.

I started with Dawsongroup | material handling just over 3 years ago and enjoy the different challenges that each day brings. Prior to this for the last 15 years, my background was in engineering, I find I can put my more practical experience to good use in my role. Dawsongroup is a great company to work for with very honest policies, which gives us all pride in our work. Since starting with Dawsongroup, I have been given the opportunity to progress within the service department to the role of service support manager.
